This girl ain't fiddlin around.
by taoistdudeAt turns poignant and joyful, reflective and playful, Lissa Schneckenburger's self-titled album shows how a well played fiddle and some thoughtful songwriting can combine to make for some music that catches your attention and makes you want to listen. The cover of "Before They Close the Minstrel Show" is beautifully done, as is the coda, "Coleman's March Reprise." Lissa's other instrument, her voice, is also a beautiful vehicle for those pieces that have lyrics (others, like the fun for fun's sake Melissa Without the Me, are instrumental). Try this album and keep an eye out for future work. Lissa's not just fiddlin' around.
