Words and Music......Words and Music; that's what matters.
by Michael A JonesFor those of you who haven't had the chance to experience good times, great drinks and 'staying in the vein' with the music in Vinings, GA's best spot with Atlanta's most genuinely soulful singer-songwriter, Jeff Hix, you've got to buy this album. For those of you fortunate few who have, then you know what I'm talking about and I don't have to rave about his music and his lyrics.
From the funky vibes of 'Wide Mouth Frog' to the somewhat autobiographical & tongue and cheek lyrics of 'Livin the Dream' (I guess I've just 'bout figured out, a rut's a grave with the ends kicked out) to the all too true words of 'Tabula Rasa', the album flat out rocks. Lead guitarist and bandmate for over 10 years, Tim Butler, plays at his best on the 10 minute jam session (live at the OVI) for the cover of the classic Dylan tune 'Tangled up in Blue'. Jeff is known for the host of musicians that come up and play with him and this album is no different.
Well put together and produced, this album has a little something for everyone and every fan of quality music played by a quality person. Well done!
