Album Review

Some Rezeev giggles out of the gates with a goofy spoken word intro that sets the tone for the entire album, aquatinting listeners with the band members and preparing them for the wacky circus that is the Ghettobillies. The songs are laugh-out-loud funny acoustic tunes featuring heartfelt vocals and charming harmonies, which makes the subject matter seem even stranger. "My First Porno" recounts Reverend C. Cobb's preteen introduction to the world of blue movies; "Dr. Love" tells the story of a proctologist with a tender touch, served up Dixieland style with some gritty trumpet work by Matt Collar trading licks with saxophonist Craig Hayward; and the laments of a two-lane cowboy are expressed on Enzo Garcia's banjo-driven "Crack Drivin' Trucker." The acoustic trio's sparse sound is filled out throughout the album by keyboardists Kendall Babl and Billy Noah, cellist Hans Anderson, drummers Andy Taylor and Mike Schiller, programmer Dykehouse, vocalist Rebecca Anderson, and multi-instrumentalist/producer Chris Gooseman. Quirky disco, street-style bluegrass, and dirty folk are all represented in Some Rezeev's 13 songs, all showcasing the comedic lyrics of these twisted individuals.

As I can remember the original promo albumn, I can only give this one 4 stars. I miss the song on the cover 'one legged lady' and the original intro from the hidden track.

The quintessential Ghettobillies album

Where to begin? This is where it all started. Every single one of these songs are classic; hilarious and harmonius, demented and well-crafted.

The Ghettobillies are the future of music, and this is their first child.

Yuck and yuck!

Alright, alright, it looks like I am the first person to write a review for this CD so here is the main thing to say about this CD, "This CD is really sick and wrong and is just plain mest up! Okay, if you like talking about bathrooms and toilets this probably is a CD for you, but if you are a nice little happy person you do not want this! I repeat: You Do Not Want This!"

Biography

Years Active: '90s, '00s

Hailing from Ann Arbor, MI, these three slightly twisted gentlemen — Tasty Pastor J (Jason Church), Reverend C. Cobb (Robbie Conaway), and Pope D Licious (Derek Kramer) — serve up some of the funniest, quirkiest, dirtiest songs ever to be performed on acoustic instruments. Surfacing in 1997...
