Genius!!
by DJessIf you search for innovative classical music look no further. Bright Sadness is both contemplative like Arvo Part and joyous like many things YoYoMa has put out. Highlights are "Christ Is Born - Dance 1" and "Voskresennia Sopilka". If you think you don't like classical because you're sick of Mozzart and Vivaldi, this is a great album to take a chance on. Don't miss out!
Musical Irony At It's Best
by FireSpartan1046I remember hearing clips of this album in the early fall of 2004, this album has somewhat of an ancient feel to it which gives it that vibrant gloominess. The music isn't unbearably sad or even depressing, it can bring joy to the listener and it takes you to a completely different time and place when you allow your imagination to be consumed by the music. This is a great fall/winter album. A great use of solo Cello on this album, being the main focal point for the listener. The Track "For Thou - Dance II" has a very interesting approach with the beginning chords and "Agios" has that old Gaelic feeling, something similar to Lord of the Rings, overall, this is a great album.
