Vermont Blues at It's Finest
by Joel at Night
While I always list Texas or Chicago for state's producing fine blues bands, I don't usually think of Vermont. Not the case anymore with the discovery of Nobert Reed and the Nobby Reed Project.
This Swanton, Vermont band from the North West Kingdom has taken your basic blues and made it their own. Original music with nice riffs from a great blues guitarist. Nobby Reed has a different style not unlike Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, or Bernard Allison. He is a musician to watch grow.
They have been performing their own brand of blues for 12 years now. They played the Lake George Blues Blast this past summer. They also had a snippet in the June issue of Guitar Player magazine. I featured them on my Thursday Night Blues Show on WNYV-FM, this winter and recieved quite a bit of comment on them from the Albany market. They perform here in Vermont once a month at the Lincoln Inn for Blues Night which is promoted by WCLX -FM. They have become a regular part of our playlist on Lakes Region Radio at Night.
I highly recommend this band.
