Silly Love Songs & Flights of Fancy
by Jazzy1995One thing that is not lacking in Vinyl Kings is talent and experience. Every member is an artist in their own right either producing, writing, or performing with the biggest names in the music industry. On A LITTLE TRIP they pay homage to one of the early influences in their careers and in music in general. These newly and well crafted compositions take on the life of the Beatles sound. The vocal harmonies and musical passages are reminiscent of the Fab Four. All phases of the Beatles musical journey are represented; the forthright simplicity of "I Took a Chance"; the sticky sweetness of "Here We Go Again"; the whimsy of "Chocolate Cake"; the ethereal "What If It Were You"; and the hard rockin' "I'm Losing My Mind." They even touch on social commentary with "Bang Bang" expressing contempt for modern day music. All of these honor the Lads from Liverpool well. The title song explains it all, their raison d'etre. Download this album, you won't regret A LITTLE TRIP down memory lane!
An Eerie But Delightful Listen
by RoostersMuch has been made of the Vinyl Kings sound evoking a Beatles experience. Well it's all true and then some. But this is a not a cover-band experience but a completely original set of songs that are wonderful at first listen even though they do sound like The Beatles. These are absolutely first-class arrangements and melodies that are worth many listens even though you do hear Beatles echoes throughout. One of the finest CDs in recent memory -- enjoy it!
Like finding 13 Unreleased Beatles tunes
by ShadownozeThe Vinyl Kings, a group of seven Nashville session cats who've played with the cream of rock's royalty, made a perfect recreation of the Beatles sound here...and the songs are great, too, not just the production! They cover the whole gamut of Fab 4 styles, too: "Don't Worry 'Bout Me" fits into the "I Wanna Be Your Man" mode, while "Chocolate Cake" is definitely Walrus-influenced. "Mother Dear" sounds like something McCartney would have written for the White Album. There's not a bad song or a false move on this album. Anybody who misses the great records of the 60s will love it!
