Great Second Effort
by spiralnycI purchased this groups first album "The Witch Man" after seeing them in New York City a couple of years ago. Having enjoyed that record very much, I was happy to indulge in this new effort. The compostions are great, with a very original unique take on the funky late 60's era hard bop style. Pianist Eric Plaks has a very unique and exciting eastern tinge to his playing, while trumpetist Rian Wilkensen and guitarist Dave Walker are very rooted in the post-bop era style of playing. This proves to be a great mix, and a great addition to any jazz collection
