by Lady MelodyThis album rocks- plain and simple. Catchy stuff. It sticks out from poppier simple rock because somehow it just sounds more mature and he has a very unique voice. Well done!
Diamond in the rough
by El PistoleroI really dig this record, it has a roughness around the edges that ultimately is part of its appeal. "We don't give a damn" and "Going higher" are brutal, savage rockers...specially the latter, an authentic sonic assault; listen to it and ya'll know what I mean! "Bettie Page" is 1:54 of fun catchy punk, the best song written about the 50's pin-up model in my opinion (in fact, it was my introduction to this record as I'm a big fan of hers).
"New Mexico" has an awesome driving riff, very cool. But my favorites have to be "the whole shebang", "she's one of a kind" and "asian eyes" - with abundant hooks and guitars, they're the kind of songs that stay in your head for days once you listen to them.
"Worried about you" and "Say soodbye to summer" are beautiful acoustic songs that show Paul Spencer's depth as a lyricist; I really dig the mandolin on "say goodbye to summer". Oh, and by the way, "Hard to get across" contains a mesmerizing solo, you got to hear to believe it. Man, I could go on and on...I guess all of the songs here have their charms. Recomended!
