LONG ON JAZZ - A STANDING OVATION
by quistenAn exciting debut album displaying impressive, sometimes astounding musical maturity, range, and virtuosity on the part of every musician of this quintet, which has played together for many years, as well as the amazing vocal stylings of Kenny Washington. Highly recommended. All eight compositions on the album are great, and five were written by O'Neill. If you live in the S.F. Bay Area, you can catch them live at Pearls, Yoshi's, the Bach Society, and other venues - often with Kenny Washington. They're currently working on a second album (and for this one Kenny just may let his vocal chords sail on "My Ship"). Curiously, iTunes has the band lumped with another Michael O'Neill that is most definitely not jazz :)
