Solid Effort

by FusionFanatic

After reading 3 trash reviews from student musicians who don't really understand the album, I decided to throw in my 2 cents.

It's a great album following in modern straightahead tradition, with solid melodies and great solos. While I'm not a fan of Maynard (just because of how pop he was) the playing on this album is at least worth a listen. My reccomendation is Sign of the Times.

yeah, they're pretty good, i mean i just played w/ them so i dont know if that gives you the whole feel but they're pretty damn good musicians, almost as good as From Autumn to Ashes... but not quite. Maybe more along the lines of Hannah Montana,

Pretty Good

I saw these guys at the Waseca Jazz Festival. They played like pros (I think they are), but it started to feel like they were just trying to impress us with fast, high notes in their improvisation, which then didn't have much melody to it. Otherwise, they were pretty much musical geniuses.
