Not the Meriwether from Baton Rouge
by shultisThis is NOT the same meriwether as the baton rouge band. This was a group from Northern California that played in the late 90's up and down the West Coast. The 2007 album is a release of demo stuff from the same time period. They are not at all punk, but a great band if you're into their kind of music.
The 2 band, although quite different get lumped together on many online music sites, including iTunes.

by Obby 84Stumbled upon these albums by accident - certainly not meriwether from BR, though. Pretty funny some folks went to the concert and somehow thought this was that... poor kids.
A different Meriwether before the current major label one was around...
by brianespinosaThis Meriwether is (was) from the San Francisco area. They last played as a band in late '99 or '00 I believe. I know the singer/songwriter behind the group Will Johnson has since released some earlier material that can also be found on CD Baby. It's a shame that far less talented bands in this genre seemed to be just a little later on the scene than Will... and that happened to be the right time for them. Meanwhile, talented musicians like Will don't make it big. So sad. At least there are some good recordings like this one out there still. I highly recommend this album. The tracking sounds as if it was recorded all at the same time in the studio... which shows through in capturing some pretty amazing dynamics and performance.
Also, for those that don't know who this band is or are looking for the other Meriwether, don't rate this as one star because you don't know any better. The other band is good, too... but don't drag someone else's rating down just because you don't know what it is. Will was using this name before the current band was. Look at the copyright dates on the recording.
