I didn't know what to expect when I bought this cd, I had never heard of Dennis Clifton, but the samples sounded intriguing so I got it. Well. Oh, my! 'Detour You' became an instant all time favorite summer roll down the car windows and crank up the volume and blast away at the red light song! Come ON - how can you not love a song that says "grabbed the rearview mirror, tore it off and I slung it out. Don't care about where I been, I ain't going back again." Not only do I really love the lyrics but the guitar work is fantastic, not just on this song but throughout. Clifton is a guitarist extraordinaire, occasionally putting me in mind of the inimitable Pete Carr, but with a style all his own. 'Blues Highway' is another fave, a full frontal stab at what casinos have done to north Mississippi music. 'Boogie Woogie Woman' is a must-have, dance all night party tune. But the serious side, i.e. 'Prodical Son,' 'Where Have All the Angels Gone,' and 'Miles To Go' really round out the cd as a whole, making me think that this is no fluke. I've got this one on the main playlist in iPod. And Mr. Clifton, you need to get busy on a new cd!

This is a great album. You can tell Dennis Clifton is not only a great singer, but a great songwriter, too. I hope he comes out with more albums.
