Ballad of America Volume 1
by Jordan CherkinskyI was very surprised to see Matt on iTunes. We met at an open mic in South Florida and ran into one another again at the Chocolate Moose Music Cafe in Davie, Florida. He handed me a demo CD which included some of the songs on this iTunes release—I listened and I was taken back to a time when these songs were fresh—songs that I sang in elementary school choir, played on my guitar from time to time around those many campfires I sat around-early folk music! He brought me back in this release to a simpler and cherished time. Ballad of America Volume 1 brings a sense of nostalgia and as well as propels us into the future. I find his interpretations to be very moving and calming...almost like going home...to our past. His voice is rich and strong-just the voice to sing these songs. I am proud to see that he has a place on iTunes and applaud him for his courage in presenting us with these new interpretations of some good old tunes. Just great stuff—Thanks Matt!
