Album Review

New age Celtic fusion artists perform a more organic blend of updated traditional music than most of their contemporaries, making for a full and earthy sound, with select contemporary flourishes. The introduction to the opening track ("Alchemy/Haste to the Wedding/Irish Day") has the unfortunate luck of sounding strikingly similar to Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive," but quickly gives way to a bright and rousing reel and an impassioned vocal harmony from Lauren Buffington-Jones, saving the song instantly. These Salt Lake City natives often rely a little too heavily on studio reverb and effect-laden guitar, but do manage to create an engaging and transportive set of original instrumentals and sung pieces, handily combining new and old musical influences for an engaging listen.

What a gifted voice this lady has...

She moved through the fair is one of the most difficult celtic songs to do correctly... she accents the words wonderfully.

The rest of the album is very atmospheric and beautiful... the "effect laden guitars" actually add to the beauty of the music. It's a fresh modern spin on traditional celtic music.
