REAL.

Something Different

I accidentally stumbled across Lori McKenna a few years back and was blown away by the emotion in her voice. After some searching, I found a lot of full band songs of hers online, but they were all a bit too "country" for my taste. When I found this album, I bought it on a whim - definitely one of the best impulse buys! Her lyrics paint a vivid portait of small-town life, and her voice carries you through the full gamut of human emotion by the end of the album. Album highlights include the heart-breaking "The Other Boys" and a cover of Radiohead's classic "Fake Plastic Trees" fused with a sad longing that even Radiohead could not reproduce. This album is a must for any fan of folk or acoustic music!

I can't help but love Lori McKenna's voice-emotional and a little weary. Her lyrics feel honest.
