Great Beats - Not Complicated
by JimDoggyThe great thing about this album is that there are very few extraneous lines of sound - drums and voice, and not an overwhelming amount of the latter. The voice, given that it is not in English, succeeds in being just one more of the several distinct percussion instruments in this sound. If you are looking for straight-forward tribal-sounding drum music without the complications of the massive voice choirs and harmonies (a la Ladysmith Black Mombaso) then this is absolutely your album. Check out Yeh Oh as a perfect example of this.
