From goth guitars to electro bleeps...
by mingaA great overview of the entire recorded output of one of the "alternative music scene's" better albeit lesser known acts. "Crocodile Shop" got started in 1988 with some production help from the Chameleons UK's Dave Fielding producing a great dark-guitar work (think the Mighty Lemon Drops meets Joy Division) and then went on to ditch the guitars over the course of 3 releases in favor of drum machines sequencers and samples (sometimes of guitar.) In their heyday Croc Shop (as they would come to be known) were releasing a new album, comp track or remix disc almost every year on labels like Metropolis, SPV, Cleopatra, SubMission and Zoth Ommog. Fans of groups like FRONT 242, SKINNY PUPPY, and FLA (as well as later "Future Pop" acts VNV, A23 and DeVision) would be interested in the bands mid-to later work, and at 37 tracks over 2 discs this release has something for anyone! A well documented progression of a band's evolution over 17 years and 13 releases.
