Legendary Athens Band Makes Welcome Return
by Hot RocksThis group pre-dates the B-52s and REM in the internationally reknowned Athens, GA music scene. After causing a promising stir in the early 70s they dropped off the radar. The band has regrouped to record and play live and this first effort is outstanding. "Drivin' By Braille" is stripped down rock at its best. Other outstanding cuts are "GIrl With Something Extra," a crowd favorite at their live appearances and "Oilman," which takes Bush-era politics for a fun ride. I caught the ravesters, as their fans call them, at a concert at The Ritz in Athens and they played the entire album and they are one of those groups who are even better live. Rock on!
