Finally made me like bluergass.
by AnansiboiImagine an alternate universe where the Barenaked Ladies hailed from the Ozarks. The same kind of playful harmonies and clever lyrics, with the banjo. But this is not to be confused with the "new country" phenomenon (read: pop sung with a twang); my wife, a bluegrass fan, asserts that this is still the real deal.
Not a bad track on the entire album, but the sweet and breathless "Sweet Cow" (a perfect roadtrip song), the almost as breathless "4 Day Ride" (a hunted-man folk song at heart) and the more than breathless instrumental jam "G - Spot" all stand out. "Tie One On" and "Movin' to the Mountains" slow down to a brisk walk (and the latter provides many riffs echoing "Sweet Cow").
Eagerly awaiting the day their next album, "A New Timey Thrill", comes out on mp3.
