Not exactly a new sound, but...
by mesomorphicmanThis is a VERY good CD (is it still a "CD" If you d/l it?), I really like it a lot. Not a complaint, just a statement - he borrows HEAVILY from Prince - especially his 1987-89 years, and from Sly Stone, D'Angelo and maybe one or two others. But I would say he mostly borrows from Prince. His voice reminds me of singer Casey Terry from Mazarati (a Prince group), especially on the Mazarati demo versions of the songs Kiss and Jerk Out - for anyone who has heard them. Even his Pretty Red Box reminds of a Sheila E/Prince song, Toy Box, with a very good Hip-Hop feel. With all that said, anyone who wants to hear some non-traditional R&B you'll never hear on any radio station, music with a good neo-pop-new-wave-hip-hop-RnB-psychadelic sound, buy this. Hopefully, he will add his newer CD soon. Thanks.
Erotic Dream...nuff said
by GobindThis CD is a real sleeper. How can you not love tracks like "Erotic Dream", "Why Do I", and "Changes". After listening through the cd you'll find yourself wanting to hear it again just to make sure you heard it right the first time since it was good but different from what you hear nowadays
Smooth soul which needs to be on your radar screen
by jjcnycI discovered this guy on a Jazzy Jeff mix compilation. If you're a fan of Prince, Van Hunt, Martin Luther, D'Angelo or Musiq, give this a listen. Stand out cuts are Erotic Dream, Changes and Pretty Red Box, which uses a hot "Paper Thin" MC Lyte sample.
