Creating a buzz around Portland is the French Cajun Music flying from the fingertips of Boréal Tordu, and acoustic quartet reclaiming their heritage with an array of original material. Boréal Tordu consists of Gigafone Records founder Robert Sylvain on Dobro, upright bassist Tom Jacques, percussionist Rob Bonnevie and fiddler and accordian player Steve Muise. With this album they have created a meticulous ambience of acoustic melody
Pulling from the rich traditions of the Northeast, Boréal Tordu’s range of styles and textures are influenced by a variety of Quebecois, Cajun, Acadian, and Maine French music. Playful in melody and contagious rhythm, this album captures the feeling of a live performance, rich in timeless songs placing a fresh sound on familiar territory.
While the album is sung entirely in French, the lytrics carry over the language barrier, supplying wonderful arrangements, as well as uniquely pleasing vocals and harmonies. The group’s dedication to originality- while sticking closely to the traditional style of Maine French music- makes this album a true delight.
