Say wha?

Re: Dark End of the Street, nothing in this song suggests an interracial relationship. It was first recorded in 1967 by R&B artist James Carr, rising to #10 on Billboard's Black Singles charts. But within a year, it also reached #25 on the Country charts in duet covers by Archie Campbell and Lorraine Mann and later the same year by Porter Wagner and Dolly Parton, artists whose audiences could appreciate a song about cheating, but probably not so much drama as the previous reviewer infers. In the late '60s, it was sufficient just being an adulterer to sing the Blues.

Worth while listen.

I have often romanticized attending a supper club. Seeing a band, a singer, drinking wine and soaking up the atmosphere. Veronica captures this in her live CD. Listening to the tracks I am immediately immersed in her siren call. Bluesy, bold and soulful.... her covers of standards will delight.

Terrific Cabaret/Jazz/Blues Performer

Veronica Klaus is still another one of San Francisco's rising generation of women singers and songwriters. Live at the Lodge comes very close to capturing her powerhouse live shows. It's very hard to pick favorites from this excellent collection, but the cover of Dark End of the Street and her own Black Diamond Days are personal favorites.
