Great fun
by rbk49Ever wonder what Weather Report's "Black Market" would sound like if played by the trio of Junior Walker, Hamiett Bluett (of the World Saxophone Quartet), and Ziggy Modeliste (of The Meters?) Look no further. Mo'Fone is plenty of fun as this Left Coast trio blazes its way through this varied set of fascinating tunes and arrangements. David Murray's "Flowers for Albert" has a lovely Caribbean feel while Abdullah Ibrahim's "African Market" is boisterous fun. The title track is not the Brain Wilson song but an evocative sound sculpture. Released in 2003 but just discovered by me (on the Evander website), this is one of my favorite downloads of 2006. Give it a try!
