Album Review

The best thing about Vanilla Ice is his fearlessness to try new things, fall flat on his face every time in public, not care about what other people think, and then move on to the next exploitable trend. When we last left our hero, he was dealing with other people gasping for their last breath of fame's air on VH1's reality show The Surreal Life and unleashing Hot Sex upon an unsuspecting (if uncaring) public. Fast forward two years later and you find him at it again with Platinum Underground, touting his career revival on a prime-time show, yet another reality series, and chalking another notch on the belt of an already embarrassing career. Through "Survivor" Vanilla has unleashed his equivalent of Eminem's "Lose Yourself," the only difference being that Em's tune is actually good. Based loosely on the Destiny's Child song, he pontificates his survival through all of the trials and tribulations documented on his VH1 Behind the Music special and the E! True Hollywood Story show.

Bangin' CD

by Buhano34

You get everything with this CD. Rock, Metal, Rap....When Ice came out I loved it and still do. I feel like Rob in a way. White kid from Texas digging the rap and new style cloths. It was the late 80's and early 90's. Rap was hittin' main stream and I loved it. My parents didn't like it which made me love it more. I had hair like his just not as tall. I learned all his songs and moves and bassed it all the time. The song Hooked hits hard (on 1st album). I'm glad he has moved on and is doing this type sound. Makes me feel we both have grown up together. I love rock and metal and rap...cant get any better than mixin' it all together.

Continued History in the Making

This is from a previous review about Vanilla Ice’s Bi-Polar Album:

OK…I am just going to put it out there…I am an African-American female, and I absolutely love this album. If you don’t believe that I am Black, then here is my MySpace page: myspace.com/laurielarita. OK…now that we got that out of the way, back to the album…Yes, I like others, hated Vanilla Ice after hearing that he was from the hood, but then found out that he wasn’t. I am 33 years old, so understand that I grew up listening to Hip-Hop and Hip Hop is my first “true love”. Yet, I do love all other types of music. When I was a kid, I listened to Metallica, Bon Jovi, Patsy Cline, Kenny Rodgers, Mozart, Beethoven, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke (I love Sam Cooke) etc. My family taught me to appreciate all music. What I love about this album is that it embraces the two types of music that I mainly listened to as a kid…Hip-Hop and Rock. I don’t think that there has been another artist who has done an album like this other than Vanilla Ice (meaning one part Hard Rock-Hip Hop (combo) & the other part just Hip-Hop). I am glad that Vanilla Ice has finally found his niche. I think that he has evolved into a much better artist. I hope that Vanilla Ice is reading this because I want him to know that I don’t hate him anymore. I want him to know that we all live and learn from our mistakes. It’s not so much what we have done in our past, but what we do moving forward into the future. Whether we like it or not, Vanilla Ice is part of “Hip-Hop History” and without his contribution to Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop would not be what it is today. And this goes for all Hip-Hop artists during his time like Big Daddy Kane, LL Cool J, MC Hammer, The Beastie Boys, Kool G Rapp and DJ Polo, The Fat Boys, Nas, 3rd Bass, etc. Hopefully, this album will go down on the books as part of history also.

Here is my review about this album:

This album is not as good a Bi-Polar, but I still love it. I love how he has a message on this album from the late Tammy Faye. God Bless her. Anywho, I love Vanilla Ice’s new sound. I hope that he continues with this same path of Rock and Hip-Hop.

Vanilla Ice Is Back

I listened and although I will always like his stuff from the late 80's early 90's its refreshing to know he's still got it. Oh and for all you haters out there if your not old enough to remember Ice Ice Baby dont comment this is for the early 20's - eight year olds who actually listened to the radion in 91 and loved the music. I was nine but I remember and still enjoy Vanilla, MC Hammer, and New Kids on the Block. And for all you haters on Micheal Jackson in this country you are innocent until proven guilty. And Micheal was never convicted. Still the King of Pop and the Real MTV (when they actually played rock videos all day). If you are old enough to remember then set back and enjoy and if your complaining you know you were listening to it too. Dont try to deny it we skated to it at roller rinks and heard it in the video arcades. And all these years later when they played Ice Ice Baby at the rink I sang it and danced to it again. I got stares from some young teenagers but what do they know thats the late 70's to 90's generations music and if you dont like it keep your opinion to yourself.

Biography

Born: October, 1968 in Miami Lakes, FL

Genre: Hip-Hop/Rap

Years Active: '90s, '00s

With his hit single "Ice Ice Baby" and its accompanying album, To the Extreme, Vanilla Ice became the second white rapper to top the charts. Unlike the Beastie Boys, he didn't have any street credibility, so the Miami-born rapper decided to invent some of his own, claiming he had a seriously violent...
