South Carolina's Finest!
by thisgreatschemerHaving had the good fortune of hearing Mr. Ross develop his chops in Charleston for the few years I lived there, I was thrilled to see his work recorded and available on iTunes. This music is fun, spirited, and respectful of the jazz tradition without falling prey to it's pretentions. If you're a fan of Miles, Mingus, Monk and modern guitar, this record's definitely for you. If you're a new jazz fan and want to hear what this generation is producing within the idiom, here's a choice example. Clay is currently (2/07) performing with Cyro Baptiste's Beat The Donkey, and you can find him on myspace. Do yourself a favor, and look him up; you won't regret it!
