Album Review

Corn Mo's I Hope You Win! can only be described "heavy metal vaudeville." Across the album's 13 songs, Corn Mo (born Jon Cunningham) belts out numbers that are a cross between one-man song and dance routines and rock power ballads while accompanying himself on accordion, acoustic guitar, and cymbal. The songs combine pop culture references ("Hersey's Miniatures," a Welcome Back Kotter routine in "Plucky") with insistently comical suburban chronicling. Throughout, Corn Mo displays a nervous and twitchy bravado that is utterly and completely charming. He's got a massive set of vocal cords as well, and they serve him well as he belts out his catchy melodies. A large part of the music's appeal is certainly in its novelty, but the production on the disc, which includes drum machines, barking dogs, and toy pianos (in addition to the guitar and accordion), is enough to keep things surprising and interesting throughout.

Pure Fun

The wanton amalgam of TMBG, David Bowie, Meatloaf and a live version of Spinal Tap, Corn Mo's a rollicking barrel of fun. He TRULY enjoys being on stage and interacting with the audience - his recordings are great, but RUN, don't walk, to see him live if you get the chance!

Corn Mo is incredible

I have not really listened to this album, from the previews I'm dissapointed. The quality does not do this mans voice justice. I saw him open for Ben Folds, and yes he is hilarious and his songs arent that serious, but wow...he can belt out the notes. This is a guy that was meant to be an eternal rocker, what a voice. My jaw dropped when I heard him singing the way he was. It's unfortunate he only does these crazy songs, he should do some serious recordings with good bands, he puts other "singers" to shame

Amazing
