Good Stuff

That song New Times and Fire Road is dynomite! Seriously. And the whole album is a jem. :)

Enough To Fill A Pirate's Cache

by Maren Couch

With song titles such as "Haggle," I knew immediately that there was hidden treasure behind the bunny and boardwalk which guard "Wharfless." Like any plundering pirate, I ravaged this album to find all of the stringed pearls and gold doubloons. To my astonishment, each and every song was worthy of raising my glass to! The holy grail among the bunch, "Bail", took me by storm and laid me back down sweetly when it transformed from its upbeat synthesized sound to an acoustic lead out. The upbeat nature of most of the album is enticingly rich, but you can still find haunting beauty on the title track and "Hold On to the Wolves." If you think this album is solid gold, you're missing out on all the fine rubies and emeralds it holds.

The highest point so far in Arrowsmith's musical progression

by Alyssa Perkins

The problem with Wharfless is not knowing what to praise first: the impeccable production, the fact that every element (other than some gang vocals on "New Times and Fire Road") was played/sung by Arrowsmith himself, or just the songs themselves, which are insanely well-written and thought-out. From the brilliant, epic opener "New Times and Fire Road," to the beautifully rendered "The Daylight" (alluding to the events of 9/11) and the truthful "Tried and True" ("The magic fades with the passing days"), this is an album which refuses to be ignored. It is emotional and accessible, guitar-driven yet melodic. These songs will move you and make you ask questions of life.
