Power-Pop Rock "Concept" Album
by A.V.Wow! When's the last time you heard an actual "concept" album by a power-pop band?! Well, that's what The Vandalays have done here & it's a dandy! Aside from having a cool "message", (i.e. appreciate what & who you have in your life, rather than just trying to start over), and sounding reminisent of The Gin Blossoms-meets-Toad The Wet Sprocket, there are some pop rock gems here, including rockin', melodic "Can't Find Your Way" & the beautifully hooky & poignant "Go Away". The Vandalays rose from the ashes of well-known Chicago power-pop, The Quick & are carrying on that Midwest pop sound, with a more mature twist! Definitely check it out!
