Album Review

Compared to 1989's The Singular Adventures of Style Coucil, 20th Century Masters — The Millennium Collection is concise and doesn't cater as much to the later and lesser part of the group's existence. That's where the advantages end. All the major highlights are included, such as "My Ever Changing Moods," "You're the Best Thing," "Walls Come Tumblin' Down," "Long Hot Summer," and "It Didn't Matter"; however, single edits often take the place of more desirable original mixes (single and radio edits are often a good indicator of a compilation's inferiority). Despite being less filler-prone, this disc is outshined by The Singular Adventures, which remains the best single-disc introduction to the group.

Looking for Paris Match?

Bluejavagal ... Unfortunately, if you're looking for Paris Match, you will need to pick up "Introducing the Style Council EP," "Cafe Bleu" or "The Complete Adventures of the Style Council (Box Set)." I highly recommend Cafe Bleu (if it is still in print) as it also has You're The Best Thing and a stripped-down version of My Ever Changing Moods.

Good, but Singualar Adventures is Better

This is good, but Singular Adventures is a far more comprehensive collection. And, where is Paris Match?? That is one of the best Style Council songs ever, and an early indication of Tracy Thorne's (of EBTG fame) haunting vocals.
