Be more gentle on yourself...

I was shocked to see Mike Doughty give his own album not that great of a review...Honestly this was my favorite album until I discovered how genius Ruby Vroom really was. Lazybones still ranks as one of my favorite songs of all time. I know you've hit it big as a solo artist now Mike, but if you put another album of this brand of music out I'd buy it as soon as it hit the market! Not that one sale is worth your while...

Great Album

The Song "The Idiot KIngs" had me rockin out on my drive home from work in the darkness of the morning. The crisp snappin drums, the smooth lyrics, Guitar that would Make James Brown proud, and bass lines that are down right smokin.

Great Album

This is a great album, by one of the greatest bands hardly anyone ever talks about. I was turned onto these guys in 94, and will never forget the first time I heard their stuff. Fresh, inventive, different, intoxicating, funky, deep, and every other great adjective used to describe brilliant music applies. Don't listen to the review written by Mike Doughty, rarely do good artists love their own work. I got a chance to see them live in Dallas around 98 or 99, and it was one of the best shows I've seen. Extremely tight live, a trait most bands don't have. Wish they were still together!!!!

One of the most unique cult bands of the '90s, Soul Coughing anchored a new crop of quirky, unclassifiable bands that emerged in the post-grunge era, including Morphine, the Eels, and Cake. Driven by frontman M. Doughty's stream-of-consciousness poetry, Soul Coughing's sound was a willfully idiosyncratic...
