iTunes Review
It was with the Traveling Wilburys that George Harrison found his rightful home decades after his career with the Beatles. Harrison was always a compliment to other people’s music and someone who could be counted on for a few stray numbers of his own. But Cloud Nine was the album that paved the way for that eventual collaboration, as it put ELO’s Jeff Lynne in the production chair. Lynne was the one producer who could coax the best from Harrison and knew his strengths and weaknesses well enough to assemble what was one of Harrison’s finest solo albums. Whether playing along with his legacy on “When We Was Fab” or bringing his pure pop experience for “Got My Mind Set On You,” Harrison sounded relaxed and at home in the studio, rejuvenated at a time when many other ‘60s musical veterans were struggling to find their groove. Add in “Cloud 9” and “Devil’s Radio” as well as bonus tracks from the Shanghai Surprise soundtrack, and you’ve got a well-rounded collection of mid-‘80s album-oriented rock.

underrated legend
by gridlock313George Harrison was an absolute legend in his own right. Unfortunately, he was overshadowed by Lennon and McCartney. This album is a great starting point for his solo work.
The album cover shows it all.
by samharmonGeorge Harrison's grinning face and breezy backdrop sets the tone for what is simply a fun collection of songs. There's nothing especially weighty about any of the tracks, and that's a good thing. Not as great or as important as "All Things Must Pass", but a content and confident Harrison put together a solid album here (having a backing band of Jeff Lynne, Gary Wright, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton and others can't hurt). I dare you to listen to "Wreck of the Hesperus" and not smile just like George.
Some of George's Best
by trumansfriend7I bought this album on cassette (many, many years ago) and I was so relieved to finally find it again. George Harrison and John Lennon were the only two Beatles who never released a bad solo song, and while this may never top "All Things Must Pass", it's one of the finest post-Beatles releases... ever. Every song is golden. So many memories, so many beautiful moments. "Someplace Else" and "Just For Today" have gotten me through so many rough days... the same way the Beatles pulled me through the same. The world lost a beautiful, brilliant and priceless man when George Harrison passed. Thank you for the amazing music and timeless inspiration, George!
