The Best CD You've Never Heard
by CKHodgesJDBack in the mid-90s, Ike lead singer John Faye provided vocals for the alternative band The Caulfields. After that band's demise, he recorded solo under the moniker The John Faye Power Trip. The backing players on his solo tour and Faye had such chemistry that they became their own band, Ike. Parallel Universe is their first album, and it is nearly perfect power-rock in the vein of Jellyfish and Fountains of Wayne. The opening track Deathbed is the catchiest song you've never heard, guaranteed to stick in your head. The rest of the album fails to disappoint, as Faye and Co. deliver 11 additional tracks of high quality, literate, and ultimately singable alternative rock. Highlights are the opening track, Memory, Dandelion, and Katy Cry. Highly recommended for those who enjoy smartly written, catchy music.
