Take It to the Bank
by wickedmouthA love that began with Billie Holiday, eventually matured into a love of Nina Simone. Her voice is as distinct as Tom Waits, and every bit as soul searching. And it's not just the voice, she's an exquisite pianist (huh, i know). This collection, while small compared to the entire body of work, is great. A wonderful intro. Nina 101. It hooked me, maybe it'll get you too.
One of the best vocalist of all time
by lovesoundSong Cotton Eyed Joe is pure sadness, soul is being poured out. Recording is a little rough around the edges, but great, great songs.
