iTunes Review

If the old adage that an act’s self-titled album constitutes a musical summing-up is true, Broken Social Scene is making the most of it. After building a high profile on the indie-rock circuit over the past several years, BSS now takes a Tusk-like leap of stylistic omnivorousness. The Toronto-based collective pulls off everything it puts its group mind to here, and its ambition feels unlimited. Broken Social Scene moves from strength to strength, taking in massive-sounding epics (“Our Faces Split the Coast in Half”), trippy side treks (“Finish Your Collapse and Stay for Breakfast,” “Windsurfing Nation”) and the occasional piece of straightforward pop-rock (“Swimmers”). Anyone who’s been impressed by recent Arcade Fire or Hidden Cameras sets will find a lot to like here too.

The multitude of sounds reminds me of some of the sounds The Polyphonic Spree produces, but who in the HELL mixed this? I agree completely with the earlier comments of it sounding like all the vocalists are crowded around a single (horrendous) microphone. Their experimentation doesn't seem to work all of the time either.
A few good songs, not sure I would buy it though, a friend gave me the CD to borrow for a few weeks.

5 stars for BSS!

You can obviously see the change of style through You Forgot It In the People and the self-titled album but even with that they still keep that little touch they have in their music. Ibi Dreams of Pavement, Fire Eye'd Boy, Superconnected and Windsurfing Nation are songs you can't miss out on but try buying the whole album if you can because it's amazing!

Another great one by a fantastic band

Even though this one is not as brilliant as the previews work by the band, it still is pretty fantastic. Don't miss it if you're a fan, and if you've never listened to it, you«re missing one of the best bands there is.
Their sound is unique and powerful.
