Not your typical chart toppers (but they should be)

Brian is a rare song writer who thinks outside of the box and combines thoughtful music with interesting and sometimes hilarious lyrics. The slide guitar work alone is worth the purchase of this album. You won't find the typical blend of predictable love songs or boring music here.

Intelligent, Witty and Beautiful

Brian Robbins is hard to categorize. He is kind of like a strange and super-catchy hybrid of Tom Lehrer and Beck. "Banned in the State of Utah" has a lot of humorous and political songs - including, of course, everyone's favorite, "Marijuana" (you know, the one everyone thinks is Phish). It also has beautiful, "serious" songs like "Empty Coke Bottle," and my personal favorite, "Jonestown," which recounts the sad story of Jim Jones' cyanide kool-aid suicide cult. Haunting slide guitar work.

BTW. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend "On" (Brian Robbins Band) as well.
