KNOWN ISSUES:
♫ There is a bug in iPhone OS whereby a third-party app cannot read embedded lyrics after a sync. This means that while the feature is there, it's less than useful at the moment. The only way around it is to open the song in the iPod app first. When Apple fixes this bug you'll be able to take advantage of it right away. Had we seen this during our testing we would have withheld the feature for now.
PLEASE NOTE: FlickTunes settings are located in the global Settings app.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY IMITATORS: Those other apps that have a dimmer feature are not really controlling the backlight at all. They merely darken the graphics on the screen to make it appear dimmer, which does absolutely nothing to help with your battery life. The fact is, there are no developer interfaces to control the backlight. When official support for the backlight is provided, rest assured we will add a proper screen dimming mode.

What's New in Version 1.6.1
Added last played date, media type and lyrics to the Song Details screen. Added new "Show Lyrics" gesture action. Miscellaneous bug fixes. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR REVIEW FOR THIS NEW VERSION...
MORE ON WHAT'S NEW:
♫ There's a new startup loading screen to create a smoother startup experience.
♫ The Song Details screen now shows the song's last played date.
♫ The Song Details screen now shows the media item type.
♫ The Song Details screen now has an option to show you lyrics. PLEASE SEE KNOWN ISSUES FOR IMPORTANT INFO.
♫ A new assignable gesture action "Show Lyrics" lets you call up the lyrics display with whatever gesture you want.
♫ The "Play More By Artist" gesture has been changed. It now plays the songs in alphabetical order instead of album order.
♫ We've abandoned the "donationware" concept because it just wasn't working for us. All references to the in-app donations have been removed and FlickTunes is now back to its original sale price. We won't change it again, I promise.
BUG FIXES:
♫ Fixed two crash scenarios that were reported.
♫ One of the custom views did not rotate properly to landscape mode.
♫ Fixed a bug that could make the Song Details screen slow down and freeze.
♫ Fixed a bug on the very first run after upgrading where the Quick Start screen would incorrectly show the prior version you had installed.

We did not notice this during our testing since we verified the lyrics in the iPod app before looking at them in FlickTunes.

Customer Reviews
Fills a big hole in iPod navigation!
I like to set my iphone on my console while driving, and use the AUX jack to
listen to tunes. (Alternately I use it in my pocket while mowing, with my
noise canceling earbuds that don't have the magic clicky clicky that you
need to control the iPod.) As you have no doubt figured out, trying to find
the right place on the screen to skip songs is a royal pain when you are
trying to concentrate on other things, not to mention unsafe. FlickTunes
solves this handily by letting me just casually swipe this way or that to
change songs, and it works perfectly. I highly recommend the app, and shame
on Apple for not having this functionality in the first place! (Of course
this is the company that left off the physical volume controls on the first
Touch, so go figure. Tactile operation IS a valid use case people.)
I look forward to the orientation lock coming, and suggested some other
features to the developer who responded very quickly. Another I'd like to
see is a setting to autoload all songs or a given playlist by default on
startup, or a triple tap or similar gesture to do the same. Having to click
the + and add songs is a little annoying, but now I'm just nit picking!
Oh, and to a couple of other reviewers:
digikey: you can reverse the flicks by setting it to "LEFTY MODE". I'm a
RIGHTY so it works just fine for me :)
Daisy Jane: you can pause/play with up/down flicks in portrait mode (or
side to side if the orientation changed to landscape on you). "
Crashes FREQUENTLY
And the interface is pretty clunky...
1.2 Update: the player keeps on crashing on me! UNACCEPTABLE. It seems to happen practically every time I use it!
1.3 Update: THANK YOU FOR FIXING THE CRAHSING ISSUE. I loved this app until others came out which are much better. Using Opus now which has more versatility and flexibility.
Exactly what I needed for the car!!!
I was really frustrated with how small Apple made the text of the Artist, song and album. It was a struggle to read it while driving. This app was just what I was looking for. Well done. I can drive safer, read info easily, and control playback by swiping without looking at the iPod. Also glad to see more controls are already in the works for the next version. Keep up the great work!
