Movie★Slate is a convenient, all-in-one digital slate, clapper board, shot log, and shot notepad— designed for use in film, television, documentaries, music videos, and interviews. This professional production tool is the easy way to log footage and take notes as you shoot— saving you valuable time later when capturing and editing footage. At a mere fraction of a bulky digital clapperboard’s cost, you’ll be saving money too.
DIGITAL SLATE
Begin a project by tapping an individual field on the slate to edit production info. Choose Directors and DPs from your contacts or saved history, or use the keyboard to enter new info. Use MovieSlate’s optimized keypad to quickly enter roll, scene, and take info. Easily switch between multiple productions by loading production info from MovieSlate’s history.
DIGITAL TIME CODE
Setting time code is simple and fast using the MovieSlate’s specialized keypad. You can even sync time code between multiple iPhones and iPod Touches via Bluetooth-- or with a song from your iTunes music library (for use in “Music Video” mode). And time code continues when the MovieSlate app is not running.
CLAPPER BOARD
When you’re ready to begin your shot, photograph the production info, and tap the clapper sticks. The clapper opens and closes, creating an audio/visual marker. The optional credits “leader roll” briefly displays a full screen image of each production info component.
SHOT MARKER/NOTES, VOICENOTES, IMAGENOTES
Once you’ve started your shot, you can rate audio/video quality, write multiple shot notes, record voice notes, take picture notes, or end the shot. For instance, when shooting interviews you can create notes to document when a particular question was asked, or when something remarkable was said. You can enter notes using the microphone, camera, keyboard, or insert built-in snippet phrases (such as “Interview”, “Question”, “Extreme Close Up”, or “Handheld”). You can customize snippet phrases too.
SHOT LOG HISTORY
Get quick reference to the shots you need, without having to wade through hours of footage. Each shot, all production, GPS location, and timecode data is stored to a Shot Log History, where you can view, edit, or ★-rate shots. From the app, you can search History by production, roll, scene, or take. You can also sort History by roll/scene/take, date/time, or ★-rating. History and Notes can be emailed in HTML, CSV, tab-delimited formats. Or send in FinalCut XML format to take the hassle out of importing raw footage.

MovieSlate is easily customized. You can choose a variety of clapper stick color options, slate backgrounds, fonts, and clock time code colors to suit your own personal preference, or production branding.

Great Slate App
I downloaded several slate Apps today (under $5) and this one is far superior to the others in the same price range. It just has so many options... things like being able to change the background color and font, sounds minor I know, but some of the other slates app where very difficult to read through the camera. I love that you can ad notes, rate video quality, email your shots, geo tag your shots, show leader and end roll credits…
There really is a lot here; the developers have done a great job.

Awesome app! Using it on a multicam doc right now. Just add a picture taking thing so when you slate a shot it takes a pic of your subject and puts a thumbnail in the log. Great work!

By far the best camera slate for the iPhone/iPod out there. Though I have an actual camera slate this one comes in handy also. I would definately recommend this slate for any filmmaker out there.
